My client is recruiting for a Lead Design Engineer in the Water Sector
The Company is a specialist water and wastewater process technology and mechanical services company that deliver a range of schemes to maintain and improve water supply and wastewater treatment works. Individual projects vary from small refurbishments to complete turnkey solutions, ranging in value from £100K up to £3M.
This role entails providing mechanical design engineering solutions and acting as Lead Design Co-ordinator for multi-disciplinary teams made up of Mechanical, Process, Civil and Electrical Engineers in Water Sector projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for design delivery on assigned projects / portfolios, which entails:
- Operating as a design co-ordinator leading/managing a team of multi-disciplinary engineers across multiple projects
- Ensuring design deliverables are produced to time and budget
- Ensuring the production of technical reports, calculations, drawings and specifications in compliance with relevant client and industry standards.
- Ensure all designs meet the required health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Undertaking technical assessments and equipment selection.
- Providing technical support to other departments
- Management and development of less experienced engineers in the business
- Supporting the Technical Director with resource allocation and overall work scheduling
- Management of CAD Designers to ensure the correct execution of 3D models, fabrication and assembly drawings.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Proven track record of leading projects, providing mechanical engineering design and delivering work packages to a client.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and legislation.
- An excellent communicator and negotiator, with good technical, people management and inter-personal skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Commercial awareness in dealings with clients, proposals and projects
- Full UK driving licence.
- Detailed knowledge of the Municipal and Industrial Wastewater sectors, additional Water sector.
