A Chief Technology Officer is required on a permanent basis based across Central London & Southend (remote working 4 days a week, 1 day onsite). There may be occasions when you will need to visit clinical sites, which are based across England



The Job

This role is to start asap and will pay between £80k to £90k p.a plus benefits

The role is a Senior Leadership Team position and will report direct to the CEO. We are seeking a driven individual to lead information technology and data teams. The individual will need to shape the strategic development of the team, to ensure the efficient delivery of current systems, whilst also leading and implementing innovative solutions across the company to drive improved patient experience and effectiveness and efficiency of delivery. The role will be required to bring forward business cases for development of the service and then implement approved cases. The role will have access to a dedicated spend to save improvement budget and will need to coordinate both internal and external resources to deliver these goals.

The role holder will need to communicate across the business and with external stakeholders, and explain technical solutions to all stakeholders.

* Develop technological and data warehouse aspects of company strategy aligning these with the wider business goals
* Seek out and implement technology and solutions that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of delivery
* Support across the business to use technology and data effectively
* Ensure and enhance existing controls and process for IT and data are developed following a continuous improvement and risk based approach to ensure that the company and the data it holds are appropriately protected
* Rigorously manage KPIs and budgets for the IT and data teams to a very high standard
* Communicate technology and data strategy
* Coordination of all technical and data aspects, including web sites and technology integrated into them.
* Oversight over all communications technology within the business including telephony, and other electronic communications.
* Oversight of data within the business including Data Protection Officer role

* Proven track record as a CTO or similar leadership role
* A detailed understanding of health IT and the emerging trends to allow strategic planning
* Track record of managing teams and budgets effectively
* Excellent communication skills
* High quality leadership and organisational skills
* Problem solving approach
* BA/BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
* Strong understanding of NHS and UK regulatory requirements for IT and data.
* Able to demonstrate introduction of new technology into a business at strategic and practical levels- eg chat functions, effective remote working, communication, terminal solutions, cloud solutions.
* Experience of SME environments from £20m to £100m, preferably within a multi-site structure.
* Experience of managing a small team including first/second line support, network management, strategic planning.
* Ability to communicate and give direction well within an IT team.
* Ability to communicate well with Executive Board members
* Disciplined in asset management, user management, security.
* Experience of network/server management/security and effective utilisation of third party support to complement and enhance the internal team.
* A strong understanding of internal service level requirements and the concept of an IT team as an internal supplier.
* Strong understanding of data warehouse implementation
* Ability to work across a distributed, multi-site organisation and to work effectively remotely.


* Detailed knowledge of specific IT systems - SystmOne, EmisWeb, eRS, e-prescribing
* Working knowledge of NHS hospital IT PACS and EPR systems, DICOM
* Detailed knowledge of data warehouse software including Qlik
* Experience of managing a small team including first/second line support, network management, strategic planning.
* Previous call centre and integrated telephony solution experience, including remote solutions.
* Previous BI experience - if not personally then within a team and understanding the practical aspects of data warehouse management and user interfaces.
* Experience as a DPO or similar role
