Rates are £368.17 p/d Ltd / Umbrella or £284.92 p/d PAYE.

A leading Defence Company requires a IT Project Lead to be based onsite in Preston on an initial 9 month contract basis.

Clearance Requirements

This role requires you to undertake a BPSS + Disclosure Scotland check.

The Role:

*To provide direction for the team.
*To ensure alignment of the teams activities with customer needs.
*To ensure sufficient resources, with appropriate skills are available to discharge agreed scope of work.
*To directly coach, guide and mentor peers in Software Services Management
*To help ensure team's activities and performance meets the needs of the wider EITS, in particular the Business Relationship Managers.
*To proactively identify best practice in the provision of services and promote continuous service improvement and reduction in cost and inefficiencies across Software Service capabilities.
*To work collaboratively as a member of the Extended Infrastructure Management Team to ensure the delivery of EITS strategic and operational objectives.
*To develop our existing Software Service capabilities which when leveraged produce cost or efficiency savings or add tangible benefit to the business
*Deliver significant cost savings to both internal and external customers through effective management of the software portfolio of circa £35m PA removing all evidence of waste - targeting a minimum 10% PA reduction.
*To support and advise the Software Services Manager who has have overall accountability for all elements of the Software Services lifecycle.
*To continue implementation of our central Software intelligence capability to provide the master data repository on all information pertinent to the Software Services Lifecycle.
*To continue improving Software Asset Management Services both internally and externally.


*ITIL Practitioner - Accredited knowledge of the ITIL processes and procedures across the lifecycle.
*Thorough understanding of Software portfolio management capabilities and processes, across the full lifecycle.
*Thorough understanding of software purchasing / sales models and the ability to implement appropriate controls to ensure efficiency of consumption.
*Ability to collate, analyse and interpret complex business drivers and imperatives and develop sound strategies for delivering successful outcomes
*Strong commitment to quality customer service
*Excellent financial management capabilities, ensuring significant customer budgets are tightly managed and controlled to deliver agreed results.
*Strong Business case development and delivery abilities, identifying potential cost reduction opportunities, developing the case for change, securing support, both financial and management, and ultimately delivering the benefits.
*Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building capabilities
*Ability to motivate the team
*Ability to influence outcomes at a senior executive level
*Ability to challenge existing thinking
*Confident making decisions and managing conflicting demands under pressurised conditions
*Strong organisation and planning skills

*Experience in the planning and delivery of significant business change programmes.
*Experience in the management of consumption of Software assets gaining optimum value from a diverse and complex portfolio.
*Strong experience managing software suppliers to meet changing customer demands.
*Strong working knowledge and experience of SIAM processes
*Strong understanding of the external software business, its evolution, its motivations and methods of operating.
*Experience in management of 'SIAM' teams
*Influencing Customers and Suppliers - substantial experience in the engagement of senior stakeholders and suppliers
*Successful track record of managing service delivery to meet or exceed stakeholder requirements
*Experience at improving established ways of working and driving change
*Experience in developing and implementing an information strategy, consolidating, optimising and automating the generation of information to deliver specific business outcomes.
