Our client, a leading company in the aerospace industry, is seeking a Design Engineer to join their team.

Job description

As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for engaging in all design phases of technical projects and providing support in scheduling, estimating, and completing design data.

  • Compile mechanical and structural design documentation, including wiring diagrams, schematics, wire lists, service bulletins, test plans/reports, and more, in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate, plan, and control design data, ensuring completeness and availability to Compliance Verification Engineers.
  • Perform independent technical checks of drawings and other design documents.
  • Support Design Focal engineer(s) in design review meetings.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment, liaising closely with in-house colleagues.
  • Provide clear communication to Project Managers regarding the status of design programmes and any issues impacting design elements.
  • Assist the Design Focal in compiling design data for design reviews.

Experience / Skills / Qualifications:

  • Degree or HND/HNC or OND/ONC in mechanical engineering, with related industrial experience.
  • A clear understanding of aircraft mechanical/structural component and/or system design requirements, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Related experience of aircraft modifications under Part 21.
  • Proficiency in CAD (Catia experience is advantageous).
  • Competent with stress analysis (Abaqus/CAE is utilized).
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements, such as CAA, EASA, FAA, Part 21, CS-25, etc.
  • Prior experience as a design checker signatory.
  • Prior experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE).
  • Membership in the Royal Aeronautical Society (MRAeS) or similar (desirable).
  • Professional Registration with the UK Engineering Council.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
