About this role…

As a Systems Engineer (Requirements Manager) in Flight Avionics, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team focused on the development and delivery of products and programmes to a wide variety of customers in the aerospace sector; covering both the Civil and Military domains. This could include;

  • The development of our next generation SATCOM Terminal for the civil airline market
  • The development of our next generation Tactical Mission Management System or Secure Information System for military helicopter platforms
  • Supporting one of the several studies we are undertaking to shape the future of aircraft connectivity

Desired knowledge, qualifications and experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree (BEng, BSc) in a numerate, scientific or engineering subject or higher education/equivalent training and experience
  • The successful applicant will require UK baseline security checks to be completed (BPSS)
  • Knowledge of System Engineering and System Engineering Processes and Practices, including knowledge of Systems Lifecycles, is required
  • Experience of requirements capture, decomposition, traceability and management (e.g. in DOORS or an equivalent tool) is essential, with the ability to generate metrics and provide status reports from data captured in the tool
  • An understanding of Product Line Engineering practises is preferred
  • An understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering is beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively at meetings with customers and suppliers, and negotiate successful outcomes for the business
  • Attention to detail and rigorous reviewing skills, organisation and planning skills, and the ability to analyse and combine data from various sources and to comment / report on them
  • Able to accurately estimate and produce project and technical plans & specifications
  • Able to contribute to technical solution and implementation of the system design
  • Prepared to go the extra mile when complex tasks need to be completed quickly
  • Aerospace and Avionic Systems domain knowledge is welcomed (either the Civil or Military Domain), with an understanding of aircraft systems and development standards (ARP4754A, DO254 & DO 178), qualification and certification requirements
  • PC Literate: DOORs, Windows, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio

Key tasks and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to…
· Requirements Engineering (Capture, Analysis, Articulation, Allocation and Apportionment)
· Requirements Management, including traceability, versioning and change control

  • Preparation of technical requirements specifications and generation of technical artefacts and baselines for design reviews
  • The ability to understand and specify interfaces between system components

· Adherence to Engineering Development and Requirements Management Plans
· Metrics generation
· The ability to acting as the point of contact for Requirements Management best-practise, including mentoring and training others in this skill set as necessary

  • Creation, population and publication of Verification Cross Reference Matrices evidencing requirements compliance
