Job Summary


TBiztalk Developer(IT) quarterly to visit other GKN sites and there is flexibility for working from home dependent on the needs of the business. The BizTalk Developer will provide the business with global integration support delivering best practices around the design and implementation of integration applications and solutions in line with the business requirements, the incumbent will be part of the global Integration CoE team provisioning 'build' and 'run' to continuously improve and support their designated application area within the agreed SLA. The Integration CoE forms part of the wider IT applications team, an integral part of the global IT organisation. The BizTalk Developer will be a trusted partner to the business in providing integration applications and solutions in line with the IT operating model working alongside the IT business partners, project management office, security and IT operations teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Focus on the design, development, configuration and support of MicroSoft BizTalk to deliver the global Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
  • Support the design, development, configuration and support of the global Manufacturing Service Bus (MSB)
  • Acquire the necessary skills to develop and deploy the ESB and MSB application suite
  • Work as part of a global team of integration subject matter experts to deliver integration support within agreed SLAs
  • Work alongside the other global IT functions (including IT operations, security, project management office and IT business partners) to support the delivery of the IT strategy in line with the IT operating model
  • Ensure the business/function are aware of the latest capabilities and drive standard application best practice
  • Ensure IT security requirements are observed and designed into future demand/requirements
  • Provide structured training for business/function(s) for maximum effectiveness
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management/team leaders
  • Support the implementation of global IT standards
  • Application lifecycle management
  • Provide fit for purpose applications and solutions
  • Support annual IT budget
  • Drive the use of standard integration tools and processes in the system arena
  • Liaise with external parties (e.g. consultants, software vendors, auditors etc.) where required
  • Gather functional and non-functional requirements of systems, processes and business models and translate into technical solutions
  • Test and verify system functionality within new and existing systems and solutions
  • Support implementation of new solutions, upgrades and/or enhancements to existing ones
  • Support change request process during implementation performing an impact assessment where required, and collaborate on compliance monitoring post-implementation (plan-do-check-act)
  • Support integration design, development, and implementation efforts between Integration and other business applications
  • Identify options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability
  • Ensure the integrity and availability of applications and solutions across the application portfolio
  • Document and maintain integration processes and procedures
  • Ensure tactical requirements are aligned with strategic roadmap
  • Work closely with developers to assist with the application configuration

Essential:

  • Significant Microsoft BizTalk integration solutions development and configuration experience
  • Experience of working within a Windows Server environment
  • Experience of .NET development, Visual Studio, SQL Server development and XML
  • Experience of working with business systems such as ERP's
  • Experience of translating functional and non-functional business requirements into technical solutions
  • Experience of working on multiple IT projects simultaneously using relevant methodologies



Desirable:

  • BSc Degree or equivalent such as Computer Science or Engineering
  • Experience of machine tool connectivity using applications such as Kepware/Node Red
  • Experience of change management using relevant methodologies
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of working in a customer-facing role engaging both internal and external stakeholders
