Project Manager required to work for an interesting government organisation in the city, this role will be within the clients Project Management team.

Based in the IT team, this permanent role is key to the successful delivery of the clients Workplan programme. The Project Manager will be required to ensure effective delivery of all project deliverables with the project whether business change or changes and upgrades to IT systems.

There is a wide variety of projects from IT technical upgrades, to deploying new systems, enhanced business functionality and introducing efficiency changes. The team consists of 6 Project Managers, one Programme Manager and a Project Management Officer.

Specific activities will include:
Managing stakeholders, including in particular senior stakeholders and other external organisations; planning and executing a comprehensive communication strategy
Developing a delivery plan of high quality and effectiveness that will facilitate the delivery of the business change to schedule and budget
Working proactively with the Project/Programme boards on the identification and resolution of risks, issues and project exceptions to the required timescale and budget
Assuring the quality of the project process through to delivery including management of project benefits and documenting project decisions and activities to ensure that there is an effective audit trail
Ensuring project management standards, methodologies, controls and procedures are complied with and reflect changing business requirements. Communication with colleagues across the business to convey the nature, impact and benefits of the changes they face
Management of external suppliers to ensure their contribution is coordinated and cost-effective
Delivering improvement of business processes and technology to achieve improved ways of working
Clear communication between business and project teams, ensuring that business requirements are properly defined, understood and met

Experience

The role requires an experienced & strong project manager with the ability to lead on critical projects. The candidate should have experience in managing and successfully delivering high profile and high impact projects within budget and to tight timescales.

Public sector experience would be desirable and/or financial/trading/ investment banking knowledge/experience
